St. Augustine, Florida, November 20-27, 2004 -- Alligator Farm®, Thanksgiving Day, November 24

Probably the only thing in the park that seemed really cheesy to me was the stuffed crocodile. Gomek was once the largest living reptile in the Western Hemisphere. Now he's the largest stuffed reptile. They try to make the display look respectable by including a lot of information about the crocodile's influence on the culture of Papua New Guinea, where Gomek was captured after years of terrorizing the locals. They even have this neat crocodile head, embroidered with lots of decoration. But really, the whole point is to see this freaking huge crocodile. I didn't get a decent shot of Gomek.

Another angry monkey.

Another monkey

This guy didn't get a name.

Red parrot

This guy was stationed right by the snack bar. We figured there wouldn't be too many restaurants open on Thanksgiving, so we had lunch under his watchful gaze before heading back to the condo.

Red parrot again
